Meet Cam Knutson

Cam attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, where he served as Student Body President.  As president, he led an organization with an annual budget of more than $3 million, served on the NDSU President’s Cabinet, and led a staff of ten. During his term, he led the effort to bring Great Rides Bike Share to the Fargo community, raising more than $500,000 to purchase the program’s equipment and developed an innovative business model that has been nationally recognized and replicated in several cities.

Following graduation, Cam began working at Kilbourne Group, a real estate development company focused on revitalizing Fargo’s downtown urban core, where he served as a Commercial Realtor and the Business Development Manager for nearly six years. During Cam’s time at Kilbourne Group, he was involved in the acquisition of over 70 parcels and $250 million in real estate development.  Cam was involved with Kilbourne Group as it grew from a team of six doing one building project a year to a company of over 30 doing an average of $50 million in real estate development a year.

In late 2018, Cam moved back to his hometown of Bismarck, North Dakota to open Knutson Realty, a real estate brokerage and development company under the umbrella of Knutson Companies.  Knutson Realty is currently overseeing the development and sales for several new housing developments in the Bismarck area including Northwest Bismarck’s premier residential development, Elkridge. In the future, Cam plans to expand his company’s focus into commercial brokerage and real estate development.  Recently, Cam added Alicia Rogstad to his team who serves as the Director of Operations.

In early 2020 Cam joined the Board of Directors at Starion Bank, a $1.4 billion in assets bank with locations in North Dakota and Wisconsin. Cam is co-owner of the Sanctuary Events Center, a Fargo venue for weddings, concerts, and private events. Sanctuary operates out of the former St. Mark’s Church, a 100+-year-old historic property in downtown Fargo. Sanctuary has quickly become a staple of downtown Fargo hosting over 300 events in 2018. In 2021 Cam joined the Board of Directors for Sanford Health Bismarck West Region, one of the top employers in western North Dakota. Cam was recognized in 2015 by Prairie Business as a top business professional under 40 in their annual 40 under 40 list.

Cam lives in Bismarck, North Dakota with his lovely wife, Shayla, their son Pence and dog Mochi. Cam’s favorite hobbies include golf and travel or practically anything that includes being active and social. Cam says he is proud to live, work, and play in the state of North Dakota and is excited to continue calling the state his home now and far into the future.
